Inter Milan interested in Arsenal duo Lacazette and Aubameyang

Inter Milan are believed to be interested in Arsenal duo Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as they step up their search for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

The Serie A side suffered a huge blow over the summer following the departure of the Belgian striker, with the current Chelsea man having played a pivotal role in firing the club to a first league title in over a decade last season.

Following that triumph, it’s been a turbulent few months for the club, with title-winning coach Antonio Conte departing after a dispute with the club’s owners, while star asset Achraf Hakimi was also moved on – prior to Lukaku’s £97.5m return to Stamford Bridge – due to dire financial difficulties facing the club.

Under new manager Simone Inzaghi, they have enjoyed a fine start to the domestic season, albeit with there still seemingly a void to be filled with regards to a top-class striking addition, despite having brought in Edin Dzeko and former Lazio man Joaquin Correa in the transfer window.

According to Gazetta dello Sport, as per Sport Witness, the Italian giants are looking to recruit a new centre-forward as soon as possible, with both Aubameyang and Lacazette believed to be on their list of targets.

As per the report, Inter are keen to do business in January with a new striker their top priority, with the Arsenal pair just two of the names they are considering.

The report suggests that they are more inclined to make a move for Lacazette due to his current contract situation, with the Frenchman’s existing deal set to expire at the end of the season, meaning he can sign a pre-contract agreement in January, or be signed for a minimal fee in the winter window.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is said to have promised the former Lyon man a new deal, albeit with no such contract emerging, leaving Inter with hope that they can secure a deal for a cut-price fee in the coming months.

That has put him ahead of teammate Aubameyang, with the Gabon international still having just under two years remaining on the bumper new contract he signed just over a year ago, while he remains a focal point and senior figure of Arteta’s current side.
