Jose Mourinho has denied reports that he has been approached with an offer to take charge of the Brazil national team.
The former Manchester United and Chelsea manager has been linked with taking charge of the five-time world champions, with Fernando Diniz currently in caretaker charge of Brazil.
Diniz was handed as 12-month contract after Tite’s decision to step down, following Brazil’s quarter-final exit at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Brazil had hoped to lure Carlo Ancelotti in the summer, but the experienced Italian this week signed a contract extension at Real Madrid.
Brazil are keen to appoint a high-profile manager after a disappointing start to 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification. Brazil are sixth in the CONMEBOL qualifying table, after winning just two of their opening six games.
Mourinho, who is currently in charge of AS Roma, has denied he has received an approach from Brazil and confirmed that he remains committed to bringing success to the Italian side.
The 60-year-old also revealed that he has turned down approaches from Portugal and The Saudi Pro League in recent months.
“No one has called me or my agent from Brazil to become the new head coach of the Seleçao,” Mourinho said, as per Fabrizio Romano.
“Brazil didn’t call me to become the new coach. I told my agent: don’t speak to anyone as long as I’m AS Roma manager.
“I trust AS Roma owners 100%. I always informed them including when Portugal called me… and when Saudi club called me last summer”.
