Juventus have ruled out a move to sign Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips or Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the January transfer window.
The Italian side have been linked with the Premier League midfielders as Massimiliano Allegri looks to add to his engine room options, but the club’s sporting director has now squashed speculation surrounding a raid on English clubs.
“Kalvin Phillips or Pierre-Emile Højbjerg? In this moment we don’t see any opportunity on technical and financial point of view,” Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli said, as per Fabrizio Romano.
“We are not forced to sign a new player, we only look for correct opportunities and we can’t see anyone as of now”.
Phillips has struggled for regular first-team football at Manchester City and has also been linked with a number of Premier League clubs this month, while Hojbjerg has started just four times in the Premier League this season, after falling out of favour under Ange Postecoglou at Spurs.
Juventus are also keen to reach an agreement with Adrien Rabiot over a new contract. The France international – who was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer – has just six months remaining on his deal in Turin and is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs.
“We want to keep our best players. We are very optimistic to agree on new deal with Adrien, we will discuss about that in the next months. The relationship is excellent,” Giuntoli told Mediaset.
