Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold could miss up to six games after being ruled out for up to three weeks after picking up an injury in the FA Cup win over Arsenal on Sunday.
The right-back hyperextended his knee and will miss both legs of the Reds’ EFL Cup semi-final against Fulham as well as some key Premier League matches.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders revealed: “He has a little tear in the lateral ligament of his knee and he will need time to recover. He had a scan and he will be out for a few weeks, so let’s see after that.
“He will get some rest and then hopefully he can come back to where he was. Because this guy was decisive in all the games and was the one who created constantly for us from deep and gave the team a high level of flexibility. We will really miss him.”
Lijnders added: “A big blow as he was one most important players. He created a lot of dynamics and was always decisive. Even in bad spells he was the one putting the balls where we needed the difference. We will have to find new dynamics without him because he made our game flexible but hopefully it is three weeks.”
Alexander-Arnold will miss next week’s trip to Bournemouth and will be a doubt for the home clash against Chelsea at the end of January. He could return for the trip to Arsenal in early February if his recovery goes to plan.

- 10 January: Fulham (H, Carabao Cup, semi-final first leg)
