Thomas Frank has reiterated his desire to keep Ivan Toney at Brentford amid speculation surrounding the striker’s future.
Toney has been linked with a move away from Brentford in the January transfer window, with Arsenal and Chelsea credited with interest in signing the 27-year-old this month.
The England international is approaching the end of his eight-month ban for breaching the FA’s gambling rules and will be available for selection when Brentford face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on January 20.
Frank discussed Toney’s future at his pre-match press conference, as the Bees prepare to face Wolves in an FA Cup third-round replay this week.
The Dane said he is keen to get Toney back into his struggling side as soon as possible – and keep the forward out of the clutches of interested clubs.
“Maybe, probably. I think he’s an OK player, so I would like to get him back into the team,” Frank said.
“It’ll be great to get him involved. I think it’s been very clear, I don’t want to let him go, I want to keep him as long as possible, I only have that in mind. My only focus is getting him ready for Nottingham Forest [20 January].
“There’s a small training group, it’s better he’s back here training.”
