Wolves join race to sign Chelsea forward Broja

Wolves want to sign Armando Broja on loan from Chelsea this month with an option to make the move permanent in the summer.

Broja’s future at Chelsea is unclear as the West Londoners continue to be linked with signing a centre-forward, with Ivan Toney of Brentford, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson all viewed as potential arrivals.

Broja could become available should Chelsea sign a striker this month and The Guardian are reporting that Wolves are interested in signing the 22-year-old.

The Albania international has struggled to establish himself with the Blues, in part due to fitness problems, and has scored twice in 17 appearances this season.

His future is set to hinge on whether Chelsea sign additional options at centre-forward, with Nicolas Jackson currently representing Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations and Christopher Nkunku having endured an injury-hit debut season at Stamford Bridge.

Fulham and West Ham are long-term admirers of Broja and remain interested in signing a striker, while Napoli and AC Milan have expressed interest in past windows.

Wolves, who have also considered a loan approach for West Ham’s Danny Ings, would want Broja on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

Broja has impressed on past loan moves from Chelsea, scoring nine times during a productive spell at Southampton in 2021/22.
