Klopp insists Liverpool not thinking about potential quadruple

Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool are not thinking about a potential quadruple after reaching the Carabao Cup final in midweek.

Liverpool beat Fulham on aggregate to progress to a Carabao Cup decider against Chelsea next month, as the Reds continue to compete on four fronts this season. Klopp’s side are five points clear at the top of the Premier League and also remain in the FA Cup and Europa League.

The final with Chelsea has echoes of the 2021/22 campaign, when Liverpool took on the Blues in both domestic cup finals. The Reds chased a quadruple into the final weeks of that season, but missed out on both the Premier League and Champions League.

Liverpool host Norwich in the FA Cup fourth round this weekend and Klopp said his team are focused only on the next game.

“All competitions are not made so one team wins all of them, that’s just how it is now,” the German said at his pre-match press conference.

“If we win on Sunday, the [EFL] final is on Sunday the 25th [February], three days later it’s the next FA Cup round. So nobody can guess what is what. that’s how it is.

“We don’t have to worry about that now, we’re just happy we can qualify for that one. The response in the dressing room was really cool. It was really nice to see how much it meant to the boys.”

Klopp provided an update on his squad and confirmed Andy Robertson, Dominik Szoboszlai and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all in contention to return against Norwich.

“It’s a chance for all of them but we will really have to see, it’s touch and go. [Andy] Robertson is physically ready. It was good to have him on the matchday squad. He’s in the regular team training schedule.

“Dominik [Szoboszlai], from tomorrow on, he had yesterday’s session, today he has a day off as well and from tomorrow on it’s completely normal. Then he’s ready for minutes.

“Trent [Alexander-Arnold], is it the game with Norwich [his return] or the game after, we will have to see. He’s not in team training or parts of team training yet, so if he can be tomorrow, I have to make a decision there. It would be very helpful if they all can be involved but we will have to see.”
