Gallagher’s contract at Chelsea expires at the end of next season and the 23-year-old continues to be linked with an exit, as the West Londoners look to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
The England international’s status as an academy graduate and high interest from rivals clubs makes Gallagher an obvious sale to balance the books, with any funds received to count as complete profit on the club’s financial accounts.
Spurs have been heavily linked with a bid to sign Gallagher, who has interest from three ‘top-half clubs’ in the Premier League, according to The Athletic.
Gallagher’s uncertain future comes despite a prominent role in Mauricio Pochettino’s team, having captained the Blues on occasion and started every Premier League game he has been available for.
He has impressed with his ball-winning in advanced areas of the pitch and ranks sixth in the division for tackles this season.
Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole warned the Blues against selling Gallagher this month, insisting it would be a ‘travesty’ if he was allowed to leave for a rival side.
