Announcement on Mbappe move to Real Madrid to be delayed

Kylian Mbappe has agreed a five-year contract with Real Madrid, though an announcement on his impending move to the Spanish side will be delayed.

Mbappe has informed Paris Saint-Germain that he will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season and it is widely expected that the France captain will join Real Madrid.

BBC Sport have now confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Real Madrid that will see Mbappe sign a five-year deal worth €15m (£12.8m) per season, while the 25-year-old will receive a €150m (£128m) signing-on bonus as a free agent that will be paid over a five-year period.

Mbappe has not signed the contract despite the agreement being reached and any announcement is expected to wait until the conclusion of either Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League campaigns. The two teams are keen to avoid an announcement before a potential meeting between the sides in Europe this season.

PSG beat Real Sociedad 2-0 in the first leg of their last-16 tie on February 14, with Mbappe on the scoresheet at the Parc des Princes, while Real Madrid earned a hard-fought 1-0 win at RB Leipzig a day earlier.

Mbappe will depart PSG as the club’s record scorer with 244 goals in 291 games for the Parisians to date, including 32 in all competitions so far this season.
