Guardiola delivers positive injury update on Kevin De Bruyne

Pep Guardiola has delivered a positive injury update on Kevin De Bruyne with the Manchester City midfielder set to travel to Bournemouth this weekend.

De Bruyne remained an unused substitute for the midweek win over Brentford at the Etihad, with the decision to leave out the 32-year-old a precaution.

The Belgium international missed much of the opening months of the campaign with a hamstring problem and City are keen to manage his work-load, with Guardiola to depend on De Bruyne during the run-in.

He has two goals and seven assists in just nine appearances in all competitions this season and Guardiola has confirmed the influential star is available for the weekend.

“It is good. Not injured. I don’t know if he is 100% but we took a good decision [against Brentford],” Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference.

“We didn’t take a risk. People ask why didn’t Kevin play but it’s because he didn’t feel comfortable. This week he came and trained by himself but I am pretty sure he will travel.”

Guardiola confirmed that Jack Grealish and Josko Gvardiol remain out, with the Spaniard uncertain whether the duo would return in time for the Manchester Derby on March 3.

“This week no, but it’s closer for them. I don’t know exactly. I haven’t spoken with the doctors yet. Fit for the Manchester derby? I don’t know. If I knew I would tell you!”
