Amad Diallo has praised the competitive spirit of Manchester United teammate Lisandro Martinez and has called the defender his toughest opponent in training.
Diallo was asked to discuss the squad at a fans’ Question and Answer session and praised Martinez for his commitment in training sessions.
The Argentine has missed much of the campaign through injury and has made just eight appearances in the Premier League this season, with the Red Devils having missed the influence of the centre-back.
Martinez cemented himself as a fans’ favourite at Manchester United last season after arriving from Ajax and Diallo has opened up on the 26-year-old’s dedication to defending.
The Ivorian winger called Martinez is toughest opponent in training and said the defender treats each session as if it were a Champions League final.
“Licha [is the most difficult player to face in training],” Diallo said in quotes published on the Manchester United website.
“He’s very strong in the training. For him, the training is like the Champions League final.
“He never trains easy, he goes stronger, so it’s harder to train against him.”
