Ten Hag hails ‘huge’ contribution from Man United starlet

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was hugely impressed by Alejandro Garnacho during the side’s win over Everton on Saturday.

The Argentine winger won two penalties, which were converted by Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford respectively, as he terrorised the Toffees defence at Old Trafford.

“He’s progressing very well and we are very pleased with this,” Ten Hag told TNT Sports after Garnacho picked up the Player of the Match award.

“His contribution today was huge, his runs, his dribbles. It’s attractive as well for the audience, obviously we want to show something. I think well-deserved penalties.”

The Dutchman also offered praise for Rashford after the 26-year-old scored for the second consecutive game in the Premier League.

“He’s good in the game, good in the team,” Ten Hag said. “It shows the team spirit. Bruno took the first but we have more very good penalty takers. In this moment he is good, in the team, and he is a threat.”

The win brings Man United within three points of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and a potential spot in next season’s Uefa Champions League.
