Liverpool and Chelsea monitoring €60m PSV winger

Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are among the leading European clubs monitoring PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.

PSV are braced for bids for Bakayoko in the summer following another impressive campaign from the Belgian, who has six goals and eight assists in 25 league appearances for the unbeaten Eredivsie leaders.

The Dutch side rejected a €40m (£34m) bid from Brentford in the January transfer window, though face a fight to hold onto Bakayoko in the summer with several of Europe’s elite circling.

Sky Germany are reporting that Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are all tracking the progress of the 20-year-old this season, while both Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen.

PSV will demand a fee of around €50m-€60m (£42.7m – £51.2m) for the in-demand winger, who has won nine senior caps for Belgium since his debut for the Red Devils in 2023. That figure would represent a record sale for Peter Bosz’s side, eclipsing the €45m deal that took Hirving Lozano to Napoli in 2019.

Bakayoko is a left-footed winger who operates predominantly from the right, where he has offered brilliant service with in-swinging deliveries to Luuk de Jong this season.

Liverpool – who lack a natural alternative to Mohamed Salah – admire his profile, while Manchester City allowed Riyad Mahrez and Cole Palmer to depart last summer without like-for-like replacements.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have struggled with inconsistency from their wide options with Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke, signed from PSV in January 2023, having underwhelmed in west London.
