Real Madrid ‘monitoring’ Trent Alexander-Arnold situation

Real Madrid are monitoring contract talks between Liverpool and Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of a potential move for the right-back.

Alexander-Arnold’s current contract with the Reds expires at the end of next season and there are no talks ongoing over an extension.

The 25-year-old is a central figure in the side and has made 302 appearances since progressing from the club’s academy ranks, winning a wealth of major honours and setting a new Premier League record for assists by a defender.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the England international’s situation as the Spanish giants seek a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

Liverpool, however, have indicated no desire to sell Alexander-Arnold, who was appointed vice-captain of his boyhood side in the summer, following the exits of Jordan Henderson and James Milner.

The defender is one of several big-name players whose futures appear unclear as we approach the summer, with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk also out of contract at Anfield in 2025.

Salah was subject of a bid from the Saudi Pro League last summer and interest from the Middle East remains in the Egyptian, who has scored 21 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions this season.
