Manchester United have made Juventus’ Gleison Bremer their top target for the summer transfer window and are preparing to activate the defender’s release clause in Turin.
Centre-back is the focus for Manchester United ahead of the summer and Bremer has been placed at the top of the club’s wish-list.
The Brazil international – who came on as a late substitute during the South American nation’s 1-0 win over England at Wembley on Saturday evening – has forged a reputation as one of Serie A’s best defenders in recent seasons.
Bremer has been named in the division’s Team of the Season in consecutive campaigns and ranks among Serie A’s leading players for clearances (5th), aerial duels won (5th) and tackles won (10th) this season.
Corriere dello Sport claim the 27-year-old has a release clause in his contract worth €50m (£43m) and Manchester United are prepared to meet that figure when the window opens.
Central defence is an area of concern for the Red Devils with doubts over the long-term futures of Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof, with each of the trio having been linked with summer exits from Old Trafford. Lisandro Martinez has also struggled with fitness issues this season and two additional defenders could be targeted at the end of the campaign.
Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite also continues to be linked after a strong season in Sean Dyche’s side, with the 21-year-old’s performances recognised with a maiden England call-up for March’s international break.
