Man United boss Erik ten Hag had mixed emotions over his side having to come from behind yet again in a Premier League match.
Bournemouth took an early lead during Saturday’s encounter between the two sides at Dean Court after Dominic Solanke scored from range in the 16th minute.
Bruno Fernandes equalised at the half hour mark, but it didn’t take long for the Cherries to go ahead again, this time through Justin Kluivert.
A controversial handball decision gave the Man United skipper another opportunity to level matters, converting from the spot to earn the Red Devils a point on the road.
It’s the third successive Premier League game Ten Hag’s side have gone behind, and while the Dutchman is impressed by his team’s ability to fight back, he would rather they cut out the bad habits that are costing them at the back.
“We have a team that is resilient, has character, we want to win. Twice we fought back from losing positions,” Ten Hag told Sky Sports after the final whistle.
“We get in losing positions and it is totally unnecessary. Three times we lose the ball easily and in areas you should not lose balls and we were not always well organised.
“There were some gaps that the opposition benefitted from, especially down the right side, and with that we should do better.”
Having taken two points from their last three outings, Man United find themselves ten points off the top four with six games to go. Their chances of qualifying for next year’s Uefa Champions League are rapidly dwindling.
“This is not enough, we know that,” Ten Hag admitted. “When you come into the final stage of the season this is not enough.
“The truth is we did not deserve more today. We have to do better, control the game, score goals and not give as many chances away.”
