Manchester City have made Jamal Musiala their top transfer target for the summer with the club keen to sign the Bayern Munich midfielder.
Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the 21-year-old who has emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s best talents since leaving the Chelsea academy to sign for Bayern.
Musiala has scored 10 goals and laid on six assists in the Bundesliga during the current campaign and last season scored a crucial 89th-minute final-day winner against FC Köln to win the title for Bayern.
The German side are preparing for a summer of change with a replacement for head coach Thomas Tuchel currently being sought and The Guardian are reporting that Manchester City want to capitalise on that situation with a bid for Musiala.
Chelsea are also interested in their former academy talent, though a lack of Champions League football is likely to hinder the Blues in their pursuit.
Manchester City want to improve their options in attacking areas following inconsistent campaigns for Jeremy Doku and Julian Alvarez. Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne have also struggled with fitness issues this season.
Bayern are adamant that Musiala, who is contracted until 2026 at the Allianz Arena, is not for sale. City have compiled a list of alternatives to the Germany international that include Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze and West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta.
