Jurgen Klopp was pleased as Liverpool got back to winning ways with an impressive 3-1 victory at Fulham on Sunday.
The Reds bounced back from their Europa League exit to Atalanta to win in west London, a result that moves Liverpool level on points with Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Trent Alexander-Arnold opened the scoring with a fantastic free-kick, though Fulham fought back to level through Timothy Castagne on the stroke of half-time.
Ryan Gravenberch’s first Premier League goal put Liverpool back ahead, as the Dutchman bent in a brilliant effort off the post, before Diogo Jota wrapped up the win for the visitors.
“We won our last two away games, can I ask for more? Besides the last 10 minutes in the first half, we did extremely well,” Klopp reflected to Sky Sports.
“The boys played a really good football game. Historically, we’ve struggled here much more. Today, we did much better. Scoring goals is the most important [thing], having chances – we really liked the game.”
Klopp caused a stir with his line up for the game, making six changes that included Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Alexis Mac Allister named among the substitutes.
“All of these boys have massive quality. Sometimes the momentum is there, but the quality is insane. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work out like that sometimes. It’s helped us, helped everybody and [we had] a really good feeling. We didn’t go through against Atalanta [on Thursday] but the performance was alright. The result was alright but today was better.”
Liverpool join Arsenal on 74 points at the top of the Premier League, with defending champions Manchester City a point behind, having played a game less.
Klopp said his team will do all they can to win the ‘hardest league in the world’ this season but said Liverpool are focused only on their own results.
“This is the strongest league in the world, the hardest league in the world, and we’re in this with two sensational football teams. Sometimes, we have to get momentum back and now we need to play every three days.
“I get ‘scoreboard pressure’ but do you think Man City care? I don’t care. We focus on ourselves. I say everything I think will help, I’m not sure this will help. It’s a really tough game. We face Everton, which is not a normal game. It will be tricky but we will give it a go.”
