Bayern Munich have identified Vincent Kompany as a possible candidate to be their new manager despite overseeing Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League.
The Bundesliga side have found it immensely difficult to replace Thomas Tuchel, having been rejected by the likes of Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Julen Lopetegui, Ralf Rangnick and Oliver Glasner.
Bayern are, evidently, running out of options, leading them to consider the possibility of hiring Kompany, which has been “discussed internally” at the club, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Belgian, who has previously been linked with Brighton and West Ham, is being “considered as an option at several clubs”.
Bayern have already held initial talks with Kompany about joining the club, according to Sky Sports Germany, while talkSPORT claim that the 38-year-old is interested in taking the role.
Tuchel eyes Premier League return after Bayern exit
Tuchel, the man Kompany could replace, is no doubt considering the next move in his managerial career – and he could have two major jobs from which to choose.
The 50-year-old will make one of two decisions this summer, according to Florian Plettenberg. He will either take a break from the game or make a return to the Premier League.
Tuchel has had “loose contact” with Manchester United over the past few week and they are a club he would be interested in managing.
There is the possibility of a sensational return to Chelsea, with whom Tuchel supposedly feels his “mission was not totally completed”.
The German coach was sacked by the club in 2022 despite guiding them to glory in the Uefa Champions League a year prior.
Mauricio Pochettino is currently in charge of the Blues, but has repeatedly suggested his future is up in the air.
