Dortmund beat Arsenal in race to sign 30-goal forward

Borussia Dortmund have won the race to sign Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart after the forward decided on a transfer to the German side.

Dortmund had been the most active side in their pursuit of the player who was the Bundesliga’s breakout name in 2023-24.

Guirassy scored 30 goals in 30 appearances for Stuttgart across all competitions to fire the club to a runners-up finish and Champions League qualification.

Arsenal and AC Milan were also interested in a deal to sign the 28-year-old but Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Guirassy has decided on Dortmund.

The two clubs are currently ironing out the final details of the deal, with Dortmund having agreed to pay the €17.5m (£14.7m) release clause in Guirassy’s contract.

His arrival will be a big boost to the Champions League finalists as Dortmund look to bounce back from a disappointing fifth-placed finish in the Bundesliga in 2023-24.

Stuttgart are reportedly interested in a deal to sign Niclas Füllkrug from Dortmund as a replacement for the Guinea international. The 31-year-old scored 15 goals in all competitions last season and has netted twice for Germany at Euro 2024 this summer.
