Chelsea ‘make interest clear’ in English midfield duo

Chelsea have made enquiries into the availability of Leicester midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Leeds United teenager Archie Gray.

Dewsbury-Hall was one of the stars of the Championship season in 2023-24 as Leicester earned promotion to the Premier League under Enzo Maresca, who has since departed the King Power Stadium to take charge at Chelsea.

Maresca is understood to be keen on a reunion with the 25-year-old in West London and Chelsea have approached Leicester over the conditions of a deal. Leicester have financial issues and Chelsea are looking to capitalise with a deal for Dewsbury-Hall before the June 30 deadline for the financial year.

Leicester have been charged by the Premier League for allegedly breaking financial regulations, increasing fears over a points deduction on their return to the top division, and the sale of academy graduate Dewsbury-Hall would help ease those concerns.

The midfielder, who is valued north of £30m, scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists in the Championship last season.

The Telegraph are reporting that Chelsea also want to sign Gray. Leeds are another team under pressure to sell after missing out on promotion and Gray has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs after a breakthrough season at Elland Road.

The 18-year-old made 52 appearances in all competitions and was named Championship Young Player of the Season as Leeds reached the play-off final.
