Napoli expect there to be movement on a potential transfer for Victor Osimhen ‘soon’ with the player’s preference a move to the Premier League.
Osimhen has made clear his desire to leave Napoli this summer after the club missed out on European football for next season and head coach Antonio Conte has confirmed there is a ‘pact’ between the Italian side and player over an exit.
The 25-year-old is one of the most coveted centre-forwards in world football after a prolific period at Napoli, where Osimhen has scored 76 goals in 133 appearances since arriving from Lille in 2020.
The Nigeria international was the league’s leading scorer as Napoli won a first Serie A title in 33 years in 2022-23 and was recognised with the African Footballer of the Year award for his performances.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Osimhen’s preference remains a move to the Premier League, despite strong interest from Paris Saint-Germain who consider the forward a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United all continue to be linked with a deal, with Osimhen’s contract at Napoli containing a release clause in the region of €120m – €130m (£101m – £110m).
Napoli are expecting proposals to arrive for Osimhen following the move into the 2024-25 financial year with ‘movement expected soon’ on a transfer.
