Jamal Musiala has welcomed Bayern Munich’s deal for Michael Olise and said he is looking forward to reuniting with the winger in Germany.
Musiala previously played alongside Olise in the Chelsea academy system before the duo moved on from West London in search of first-team opportunities.
The former joined Bayern Munich at 16 and has evolved into one of the most exciting young talents in world football, scoring three times during Germany’s run to the quarter-finals at Euro 2024 this summer.
Olise spent time in the youth systems at Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City before emerging at Reading.
Three impressive seasons in the Premier League at Crystal Palace attracted interest from Europe’s top clubs and Bayern have completed a £50.8m deal for the 22-year-old this summer.
Musiala said he is looking forward to playing alongside the ‘super talented’ Olise once again in Bavaria.
“We used to play together in Chelsea academy, it was nice!,” Musiala told Abendzeitung.
“He’s super talented, his skills are excellent. He has scored many goals at Palace so I’m happy that he’s joining Bayern.”
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said the club were delighted to secure a player of huge potential.
“Michael is quick, tricky, a goal threat and very versatile in attack,” he told the club’s official website.
“His goals and assists stats are already outstanding. At the age of 22, Michael is already very advanced, but is also hungry and still has a lot of potential. Fans come to the stadium to see players like Michael Olise.”
