Juventus set to announce departure of Premier League target

Juventus are set to formally announce the departure of Adrien Rabiot after failing to agree a new contract with the midfielder.

Rabiot is a free agent after his contract with the Italian side expired last month but the Frenchman has remained in negotiations with Juventus over a new deal.

The Serie A side have offered a deal worth around €7m per season to the 29-year-old but have failed to find a breakthrough to extend Rabiot’s five-season spell with the club.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that an announcement on Rabiot’s departure is expected imminently with the France international already in talks with other clubs over a free transfer move.

Manchester United made an approach to sign Rabiot last summer and remain interested in signing a midfielder.

Sofyan Amrabat has returned to Fiorentina following his loan spell with the club, while Erik ten Hag has doubts over the future of Casemiro. Scott McTominay is also subject of interest from Fulham. Liverpool have also been linked with Rabiot as Arne Slot considers midfield additions.

Rabiot has made 212 appearances in all competitions for Juventus since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in 2019, scoring 22 goals. He won the Serie A title during his debut season with the Bianconeri and has twice won the Coppa Italia.

Juventus have added to their midfield this summer with the signings of Douglas Luiz and Khéphren Thuram from Aston Villa and Nice respectively. Thiago Motta’s side also have an interest in Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners.
