Mikel Arteta is considering a move to bring former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane to Arsenal.
Sane has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Bayern Munich and could be moved on this summer, following the German side’s £60m capture of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.
Arteta coached Sane during the German’s successful spell at Manchester City, where the latter won back-to-back Premier League titles, a domestic treble, and was named PFA Young Player of the Year in 2017-18.
The Spaniard has signed Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko in recent transfer windows after working with the pair at the Etihad, and Sane is the latest player Arteta is keen to reunite with, according to Football Transfers.
Arsenal want to add another option on the flanks this summer, to ease the burden on Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
The Gunners have expressed interest in signing Nico Williams, though Barcelona are the frontrunners to sign the Euro 2024 winner from Athletic Bilbao.
Sane is viewed as an attractive alternative given his contract situation and Bayern’s reported willingness to sell the 28-year-old this summer. A fee in the region of £40m would be considered.
