Juventus struggling to meet £42m fee for Chelsea target

Juventus are ‘struggling to afford’ the £42m asking price for Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi.

The Italian side had moved ahead of competition from the Premier League to sign the 22-year-old but a deal has stalled due to Dortmund’s demands.

Dortmund value Adeyemi at around £42m and Juventus are struggling to match that asking price, according to La Stampa.

Thiago Motta’s side have been active in the transfer market with the additions of Douglas Luiz, Khéphren Thuram, Juan Cabal and Michele Di Gregorio, while the Bianconeri are also pursuing Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.

Their reluctance to meet Dortmund’s demands could allow Chelsea and West Ham back into the race with the London rivals having each considered approaches for Adeyemi.

The twice-capped Germany international struggled for opportunities at Dortmund last season but is considered a player of high potential, while his ability to operate across the forward line and electric pace are appealing attributes.
