Paris Saint-Germain have lowered their demands for Manuel Ugarte to hand Manchester United a boost in their pursuit of the midfielder.
Manchester United have made Ugarte a top target as the Red Devils look to reinforce their midfield but have so far been reluctant to meet PSG’s demands of a €70m (£59.3m) fee.
The French champions signed Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon for €60m (£50.9m) and are demanding a profit on that investment. However, PSG’s capture of Joao Neves from Benfica means the Ligue 1 side are willing to be more flexible on the terms of a deal for Ugarte.
L’Equipe are reporting that the signing of Neves means PSG are open to the prospect of a loan-to-buy arrangement with United, in what would be a huge boost to Erik ten Hag’s team and their need to remain compliant with Premier League PSR.
United are looking to raise funds to complete the double deal for Bayern Munich defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, with the latter set to sign once Aaron Wan-Bissaka is offloaded. The latter is currently in talks over a move to West Ham.
Ten Hag’s team have seen an opening offer of €35m turned down for De Ligt, who Bayern value at €50m. The Dutch defender has not travelled with the squad for their pre-season trip to South Korea as negotiations continue.
United have received offers from Galatasaray and Fulham for Scott McTominay, whose sale could free funds to complete the De Ligt deal. The Red Devils value the Scotland midfielder at £30m with Everton also monitoring his situation.
Negotiations for De Ligt are expected to accelerate after summer signing Leny Yoro was ruled out for the opening weeks of the season with a foot injury.
