Manchester United injuries will not change transfer plans

Erik ten Hag has said Manchester United’s bad luck with injuries will not change the club’s plans in the transfer market.

The Red Devils have suffered setbacks on their pre-season tour of the United States with Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro picking up injuries.

The duo will miss the start of the Premier League season with hamstring and foot complaints respectively, while Marcus Rashford also limped out of the 3-2 win over Real Betis.

United had a huge 66 injuries last season and Ten Hag was asked whether the latest problems for his squad could lead to reevaluation of the transfer market.

“I’m waiting for this question, of course,” he told The Guardian.

“But that’s part of football – top football especially – that you come into a game, you go to the edge; every player has to go to the edge and yeah, then injuries are not avoidable. We have to be ready as a club and as a team to cover this and the players are dealing very well with this setback. They are very positive, they are already recovering and they will return.”

Asked specifically whether his side could look for solutions in the transfer market, Ten Hag added. “No. This will not change anything. We have a plan and we stick to the plan – and we will execute the plan, how we have that in our minds.”
