‘Impossible’ for Chelsea star to stay this summer

Romelu Lukaku will leave Chelsea this summer with the prospect of the forward remaining at Stamford Bridge deemed ‘impossible’.

Lukaku has returned to Chelsea after spending the last two seasons out on loan, first with Inter Milan and then AS Roma.

The 31-year-old scored 21 goals in all competitions last season but is not part of Chelsea’s long-term plans, as the Blues look to offload the former record signing.

Napoli have made Lukaku their top target as the Italians prepare for the potential departure of Victor Osimhen, who has made clear his desire to leave the club this summer. However, Osimhen’s exit has become complicated after PSG refused to meet Napoli’s asking price and Chelsea’s interest in a straight loan move was dismissed by the player.

Napoli’s pursuit of Lukaku is dependent on the sale of Osimhen, leaving the former’s future uncertain with less than three weeks of the transfer window remaining.

However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea view Lukaku staying at the club as ‘impossible’ with all parties working to find a resolution.
