Ipswich Town have made an approach to Chelsea forward Armando Broja to gauge the forward’s interest in a potential move to Portman Road.
Kieran McKenna’s side have been active in the transfer window and on Friday concluded the double signing of Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips (loan) and Blackburn Rovers forward Sammie Szmodics, who ended last season as the Championship’s leading scorer.
The Tractor Boys are continuing to push on in search of new signings as Ipswich prepare to return to the Premier League for the first time in 22 years. Next on the club’s hit-list is Armando Broja with Fabrizio Romano reporting that initial contact has been made with the Chelsea forward’s representatives.
Broja has returned to Chelsea after a disappointing loan spell at Fulham over the second half of the 2023/24 campaign and is free to leave West London this summer. Chelsea need to offload players with more than 40 first-team options in Enzo Maresca’s squad and will consider loan and permanent bids for the 22-year-old.
The Albania international impressed during loan spells at Vitesse Arnhem and Southampton earlier in his career but fitness problems have stalled his progress at Stamford Bridge.
Ipswich have now ‘presented their project’ to Broja in the hope of convincing the forward to move to Portman Road.
