Liverpool signing reacts to imminent Premier League transfer

Federico Chiesa has said he ‘can’t wait’ to become a Liverpool player as the Juventus forward nears a transfer to the Premier League.

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign the Italy international for an initial fee of €13m (£10.9m), with Chiesa set to become the Reds’ second signing of the week, following the news that Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili will move to Anfield in 2025.

“I’m very happy, I can’t wait to become new Liverpool player. Me and my family, we’re so happy really,” Chiesa said in comments published by Fabrizio Romano.

“Let me say thanks to Juventus and the fans, they have been always special with me. Now it’s time for Liverpool. I’m so happy. I can’t wait!”

Chiesa is free to leave Juventus after being informed he does not feature in Thiago Motta’s plans, with Liverpool capitalising to sign the 26-year-old in a cut-price deal.

The versatile forward, who can operate in a wide role or through the centre, scored 10 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions last season.

Liverpool have held a long-standing interest in Chiesa, who was named in the Team of the Tournament as Italy won the European Championship in 2021.
