Galatasaray eye Premier League star as statement signing

Galatasaray are considering making a bid for Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.

The Turkish Süper Lig side are weighing up an approach for the Brazilian who has been linked with an exit from Manchester United.

Casemiro was substituted at half-time after a poor performance in the club’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford at the weekend, increasing speculation surrounding his future.

The transfer deadline for Europe’s top five leagues has passed but several markets remain open. Saudi Arabia has been mentioned as a potential destination for Casemiro, whose first-team place is under threat following the £51m deadline-day arrival of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.

Turkish transfer an option for Casemiro

Turkish teams are also free to make signings and Galatasaray hit the headlines this week after agreeing a loan move for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

The Süper Lig champions capitalised on the closure of the transfer window in Europe’s top leagues to sign Osimhen, who failed to secure a move away from Napoli despite talks with Chelsea and Al-Ahli.

Galatasaray are now preparing another statement swoop, according to The Times, with Casemiro on the club’s radar. However, Casemiro would need to take a significant cut on his £3000,000-a-week contract at Manchester United, that expires in 2026.

The Istanbul outfit won the Turkish league with a record-breaking 102 points last season and have started the new campaign with maximum points from three games.
