Morgan Gibbs-White has backed interim manager Lee Carsley to succeed with England and believes the role ‘suits him perfectly’.
Gibbs-White has been included in the senior England squad for the first time but arrives with knowledge of the new head coach, having worked with Carsley at u-21 level.
The 24-year-old formed part of the u-21 team that won the European Championship under Carsley in 2023 and has backed the new boss to handle the step up to senior level.
“I know how he works, he’s a great manager tactically, [his] man-management is great,” Gibbs-White said.
“I was buzzing when I found out that he got the job as he really deserved it and I feel like it suits him perfectly. Hopefully the games go well for him and you never know what the future holds.”
Gibbs-White desperate to take England opportunity
Gibbs-White has been handed a chance in the absence of several established names, with fierce competition in the attacking roles. He said it is ‘unfortunate’ that Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer and Phil Foden are not with the squad but is determined to take his opportunity.
“[It’s] unfortunate they can’t be here,” Gibbs-White added.
“I’ve waited for this opportunity for so long, I’m going to try and take it with both hands and hopefully secure my spot here.
“They’re probably three of the best players in the world right now, so being behind them is a good and a bad thing.”
