Noni Madueke is confident that Chelsea teammate Cole Palmer can produce his club form for England ahead of this month’s international break.
Palmer has started the season in superb form with six goals and five assists in seven Premier League appearances, continuing on the form that saw him named PFA Young Player of the Year in 2023/24.
The 22-year-old celebrated another individual honour this week after being named England men’s Player of the Year, despite limited involvement at Euro 2024. Palmer assisted the semi-final winner against the Netherlands in the tournament and scored in the final defeat to Spain.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of England’s Nations League clash with Greece on Thursday, Madueke said the ‘sky’s the limit’ for Palmer for club and country.
‘Sky the limit’ for Cole Palmer
“I think the sky’s the limit for him,” Madueke said of Palmer.
“I don’t know if he has a ceiling, I don’t know what his ceiling is. But I feel like the form that he’s showing now is incredible. And I just hope he can continue that.
“Cole Palmer’s a very unique player. A type of player that doesn’t feel pressure, in the most pressurised situations. I admire that about him. He’s a great footballer. And I’m sure he’s going to produce for England, just as he does for Chelsea.
“It’s just his demeanour really, he’s just relaxed. He’s just as relaxed off the pitch as he is on the pitch. That’s just him. Some people are just like that. That’s his character. And it works for him on the pitch. Cole’s just unique in that sense, where he can just go on the pitch, play the game, have fun, play the game to enjoy it, and he’ll produce anyway. That’s just him.”
