Chelsea’s Maresca wins Premier League Manager of the Month

Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca has been named as the Premier League Manager of the Month for September, following an impressive run of results.

Chelsea began the month with a 1-1 draw at home to Crystal Palace but bounced back to record three consecutive victories. That run included away wins at Bournemouth and West Ham, before a 4-2 victory over Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

The latter fixture saw Cole Palmer score four first-half goals and the 22-year-old has been recognised with the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month for September.

Maresca’s award is recognition of a strong start for the Italian since his appointment in the summer. The 44-year-old led Leicester to promotion to the Premier League last season before being named as Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement in West London.

Chelsea are fourth in the Premier League table, four points behind leaders Liverpool, as the club look to secure Champions League qualification in 2024/25.

Maresca is the second newly appointed manager to claim the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award this season, after Brighton’s Fabian Hurzeler took August’s accolade.
