Chelsea captain considers transfer to end injury issues

Reece James is reportedly considering a move away from Chelsea as he looks to relaunch his career.

James has struggled badly with injury problems in recent campaigns and is yet to make an appearance for Chelsea this season, due to a hamstring issue.

The right-back has started just 19 league games across the last two campaigns, while injuries have been an ongoing issue. James has not started more than 25 league games in a season since a loan spell at Wigan Athletic in 2018/19.

He is reportedly considering leaving Chelsea for a club in a warmer climate, in the hope the change could end his injury issues. James would be reluctant to leave Chelsea, having progressed through the club’s ranks to become captain.

However, a frustrating series of setbacks has left the defender deliberating a transfer with Football Transfers revealing that his representatives have sounded out clubs in Spain and Portugal. Barcelona are among those to have been contacted, while Real Madrid’s interest in signing a right-back could facilitate a potential move.

James has missed 129 games for Chelsea through injury since his senior debut for the West Londoners.
