Barcelona have placed Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya on their shortlist of potential options to replace Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The Spanish side are seeking a ‘top-level’ goalkeeper to replace Ter Stegen, who was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after he ruptured a patella tendon in September. Ter Stegen will turn 33 in April and Barcelona are beginning to make contingency plans for a new long-term number one.
El Nacional are reporting that Raya features on their shortlist, alongside Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa and Espanyol’s Joan Garcia.
Raya was born in Barcelona and has impressed since arriving at Arsenal from Brentford, winning the Premier League’s Golden Glove in 2023/24 and helping the Gunners to the division’s best defensive record.
However, prising the 29-year-old from North London would be difficult given Barcelona’s economic issues.
Former Spain u-21 international Garcia, who Arsenal made an approach to sign in the summer as a replacement for Aaron Ramsdale, is also an option, alongside Costa.
The latter has forged a reputation as a penalty specialist at Porto and has a release clause of €75m (£62.6m) in his contract with the Portuguese side.
