Arsenal defender Ben White has dispelled the suggestion that he ‘hates’ football.
White’s character has intrigued with the defender having admitted that football is not a huge passion away from the pitch. He is also currently undergoing a self-imposed exile from the England set-up despite his consistent performances for Arsenal.
However, the 27-year-old has explained past comments and refuted suggestions he ‘hates football’. The defender explained that his decision not to watch games is due to a desire to switch off from the sport when away from Arsenal, given the intensity of being a Premier League player.
“No of course not,” White told Ben Foster for Amazon Prime Sport when asked if he ‘hates’ football.
“Obviously I don’t watch it. For me it’s not a big deal. In training the amount of videos you watch is so extreme, when I come home I just want to forget about it. There is no football on, don’t talk about it when I come home. It’s just like it’s not my job.
“People think I don’t love it, but I could probably tell you most things about every winger I’m going to come up against.”
