Manchester United XI vs West Ham – Predicted lineup and team news

Manchester United travel to face West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday, with both teams looking to recover from stuttering starts to the season.

Erik ten Hag is under pressure after the club’s worst-ever start to a Premier League season, having recorded just three wins from their opening eight games.

The Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw at Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday night, their third consecutive draw in the competition with results mixed at home and in Europe.

Their opponents have also struggled to get their season going under Julen Lopetegui. Last weekend’s 4-1 defeat at Spurs has seen Lopetegui come under heat, with the Spaniard having replaced David Moyes at the London Stadium in the summer.

Manchester United team news

Bruno Fernandes will return to the side after missing the midweek draw at Fenerbahce through suspension.

Ten Hag’s injury problems increased further, however, after Antony picked up an issue on Thursday night. The Brazilian winger joins Kobbie Mainoo, Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Mason Mount on the sidelines.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing West Ham, Ten Hag said injuries are a big part of his side’s struggle for results this season.

“Yeah, that holds us back in our levels, and also in our position in the league. When you don’t have the players available, you can’t line up the best team, and that is what’s holding us back in this moment.

“We need more players available often and then we have to work all together on this point. That is the players, the coaching staff, all the other staff – we have to do better to get more available players, because we know when we have them, we are a really tough team to play [against]. When we have them, we can be really successful, and that is what we have shown over the last couple of months.”

There’s better news on Jonny Evans who should be passed fit to feature after a knock.
