Newcastle United welcome Arsenal to St James’ Park in the Premier League in Saturday’s lunchtime fixture.
After an improved performance saw Newcastle beat Chelsea 2-0 to reach the Carabao Cup quarter-finals in midweek, Eddie Howe will be targeting the scalp of another London opponent.
The Magpies are without a win in five Premier League games and have lost their last two, ahead of the visit of an Arsenal side who sit third in the table.
Goals have been an issue for Newcastle of late, though Alexander Isak’s form has picked up with goals in back-to-back games. Newcastle have won two of the last three meetings between the teams at St James’ Park.
Newcastle vs Arsenal – Predicted lineup and team news
Newcastle team news
Eddie Howe has said Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon will be assessed ahead of Arsenal’s visit to the North East. The influential duo both featured against Chelsea on Wednesday night, but are dealing with ‘niggling injuries’ according to the Newcastle boss.
Isak’s issues will be a concern with Callum Wilson remaining out. The 32-year-old has not featured this season and joins Jamaal Lascelles (knee), Sven Botman (knee), and Kieran Trippier (thigh) on the sidelines.
Howe could look to shakeup his midfield after impressive performances from Sandro Tonali and Joe Willock in midweek. Emil Krafth and Lloyd Kelly are also competing for a place in the team after strong outings in the win over Chelsea.
Newcastle predicted lineup
Newcastle predicted XI: Pope; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Barnes, Isak, Gordon.
