Chelsea make the trip to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon knowing a win will take them into the Premier League’s top four.
Enzo Maresca’s side will want to issue a response to their midweek Carabao Cup exit, after losing 2-0 at Newcastle United. The defeat was setback in an otherwise encouraging start under the new head coach, who has seen his side lose just twice in the Premier League this season.
Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson have started the season in superb form, with 21 league goals and assists combined in 2024/25.
However, the West Londoners will need to improve on a poor recent record against Manchester United. Chelsea have won just one of the last 13 Premier League meetings between the teams. Their last league win at Old Trafford came in May 2013.
Chelsea XI vs Manchester United – Predicted lineup and team news
Chelsea team news
Enzo Maresca made wholesale changes to his side for the midweek defeat at Newcastle and will be expected to revert back to his tried and tested. The Italian is likely to make 11 changes from the team that lost at St Jame’ Park, with Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson all returning to the XI.
Maresca has preferred a midfield pairing of Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in recent games, condemning £106m signing Enzo Fernandez to the bench.
