Manchester City are believed to be keen on renewing their interest in Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in January, having missed out on his signature over the summer.
The 28-year-old’s future had been one of the major talking points of the recent transfer window, the player himself hinting at a potential departure from Spurs at the end of last season amid interest from Manchester City, albeit with no move coming to fruition after the champions failed to meet the required asking price.
Having already signed England colleague Jack Grealish on a British-record £100m deal from Aston Villa, Pep Guardiola’s side appeared keen on adding Kane to their attacking arsenal as a replacement for the outgoing Sergio Aguero, yet were left without a new centre-forward addition after also missing out on Cristiano Ronaldo.
While City have been largely unaffected by that failure to secure a new arrival, the Three Lions skipper appears to have been unsettled by the transfer saga, having gone on to score just one Premier League goal this season after previously clinching the Golden Boot last term.
According to ESPN, the striker could still get his wish regarding a move to the Etihad, with City reportedly keen to renew their interest in the player in January.
The report suggests that City could make a move in the winter window if they were ‘given encouragement’ that a deal could be done, although the belief is that Daniel Levy’s £150m asking price may still prove to be a major obstacle.
The recent managerial change in north London may also scupper any deal, with new boss Antonio Conte said to have been ‘given assurances’ that Kane would be part of the club for the foreseeable future, after the Italian replaced Nuno Espirito Santo just prior to the international break.
Kane has also reportedly been left ‘impressed’ following the arrival of the former Chelsea boss, with the serial-winning coach likely to give the club a better chance of clinching silverware, the striker still yet to win a major honour in his career.
Equally, with three years still remaining on his existing contract, the club are in no rush to part ways and are keen to keep him until at last the end of the season, although a hefty offer could potentially force Levy’s hand in January.
