Leroy Sane has opened up on a potential return to the Premier League next summer amid links to Arsenal and Manchester United.
Sane’s contract at Bayern Munich expires at the end of the current campaign and there has been no breakthrough on an extension in Bavaria.
Arsenal and Manchester United are understood to be monitoring the 28-year-old’s situation ahead of potential bids to bring Sane back to English football. The winger enjoyed a successful spell at Manchester City earlier in his career, where he won two Premier League titles and was named PFA Young Player of the Year in 2017/18.
Sane moved to Bayern Munich in a €45m deal in 2020 and has since scored 51 goals in 186 games for the German giants. He has won three Bundesliga titles at Bayern and told BILD that his current club is the right environment to show his ‘best performance’ and ‘win titles’.
The Germany international suggested negotiations are ongoing with Bayern as the two parties look to reach an agreement on an extension.
“I follow Premier League football. But the attraction for me lies in the club where I can show my best performance, develop and win titles. I have that at FC Bayern. We keep talking.”
Sane is one of three high-profile players out of contract at the Allianz Arena next summer. Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies are also into the final months of their deals and will be free to negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign sides in January.
Kimmich has been named as a potential transfer target for Premier League clubs, while Davies has been heavily linked with Real Madrid.
The Spanish champions are planning to make moves for big name free agents next summer with Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold also on the club’s radar.
