Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Cristian Romero is in contention to return for Tottenham against Chelsea this weekend.
Spurs host their London rivals in a huge Premier League clash on Sunday, looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat at Bournemouth in midweek.
Postecoglou was involved in a confrontation with supporters at full-time, after being booed at the Vitality Stadium. Spurs sit 10th in the Premier League table, six points adrift of the top four.
The North Londoners next take on an in-form Chelsea and Postecoglou has revealed that Romero could return. Absent for recent fixtures with a foot injury, the World Cup winner is due to take part in training on Friday. The 26-year-old has not featured for Spurs since before November’s international break.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the game, Postecoglou also revealed Ben Davies is a doubt to face Chelsea: “Ben [Davies] too early again [to tell], he’ll go for a scan today. Cuti [Romero] is due to train, we’re not doing much today but we’ll see tomorrow.”
Asked for his view on his post-match confrontation with disgruntled fans at Bournemouth, the Australian said he was keen to ‘move on’ from the incident after audible unrest from the travelling fans.
“They aren’t behind me, they are behind the club. I have got no interest in who is behind me. Last night you have to figure the fans who travel to Bournemouth are fairly hardcore supporters. They weren’t happy with what they saw and they felt like they needed to give some feedback. I took the feedback onboard and we move on.”
