Chelsea forward Ziyech a ‘viable option’ for misfiring Barcelona

Hakim Ziyech is a ‘viable option’ for Barcelona during the January transfer window with the club considering a loan move for the Chelsea star.

Ziyech has struggled to command an automatic position since signing for Chelsea from Ajax, with the Moroccan international having started just two Premier League fixtures so far this season.

The 28-year-old has been linked with an exit in the winter window in search of regular first-team football and SPORT are reporting that Barcelona has emerged as a ‘viable’ destination for the unsettled winger.

Barcelona are keen to strengthen their attacking options in January following a disappointing start to the current campaign, the Catalans ninth in La Liga after winning just four of their opening 12 league fixtures.

The Spanish side will seek a loan deal without an obligation to buy, given the club’s precarious financial situation at present.

Ziyech’s versatility and goal threat would be a welcome addition to the struggling side, with the winger having been one of the most sought-after talents in Europe during his time at Ajax, scoring 49 goals and providing 81 assists in 165 appearances for the Eredivisie side.

He has managed 13 goal involvements from 49 games for Chelsea, but his failure to command a place in the side could now lead to his exit when the transfer window opens in the new year.
