Guardiola wants Man City to be shoot-on-sight in derby clash

Pep Guardiola has said he ‘knows the reason’ for Manchester City’s poor form and has encouraged his side to shoot-on-sight against Manchester United this weekend.

City welcome their cross-town rivals to the Etihad on Sunday, aiming to address an alarming run of form. The Citizens have won just once in 10 games across all competitions, a run that has seen them fall adrift in the title race. Guardiola’s side also face a battle to secure progress in the Champions League after a 2-0 defeat at Juventus this week.

Despite the dramatic decline in results, Guardiola says he has been ‘really pleased’ with the overall performances from his team. He has urged City to ‘shoot more’ as the Blues take on their fiercest rivals in the Premier League this weekend.

“In our jobs we will always do our best and when the best doesn’t happen you are more uncomfortable than when the situation is going well. As a manager you are in scrutiny for every step of the team,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

“But I am fine. I have more thoughts at this moment but what I feel right now is the same as what I’ve said for the last few weeks or month. Nothing has changed.

“I’m really pleased with the way we’ve played. I know from my career when we are playing good and not so good.

“We have to shoot more and cut out the mistakes. But we have been in the games.

“We have not been consistent for the 90 minutes but I know the reason why. We just have to keep working and moving forward.”
