Brentford insist ‘no chance’ Arsenal target will move this month

Thomas Frank has insisted that Bryan Mbeumo will not leave Brentford in the January transfer window.

Mbeumo’s performances this season have seen the winger linked with several Premier League rivals. The Cameroon international has 13 goals and three assists in 21 league appearances for the Bees during the current campaign.

Arsenal are understood to have placed the 25-year-old on their wish list, as the Gunners look to combat the losses of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus to injury.

Following Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Tottenham on Wednesday night, Mikel Arteta revealed the club are actively looking at options this month.

“Yes, for sure,” he told TNT Sports.

“Because we lost two players, big players, Bukayo [Saka], who can be out for up to three months, that’s a long time, and Gabby, who is going to be out for a long, long, long time.

“We are going to try, for sure. We are actively looking at. I think we have lost two very, very important players, we have 14 players in the squad, and we play every three days. We will try but let’s see who we can get.”

Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester United have also been named as potential destinations for Mbeumo, though Brentford will turn down all proposals this month.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Frank shut down the exit rumours and there is ‘no chance’ the club’s leading scorer will leave this month.

“No,” Frank said when asked if Brentford would entertain offers this month.

“It’s very easy to answer… no chance.”

Mbeumo – who is valued at around £50m in West London – will enter the final 12 months of his contract at Brentford in the summer.
