Liverpool unwilling to sell Nunez in January but expect summer bids

Liverpool have no intention of selling Darwin Nunez this month despite interest in the forward from Saudi Arabia.

Al Nassr targeted a January deal to sign the striker, who has started just seven games in the Premier League so far this season.

He has scored six goals in 29 appearances across all competitions during a difficult individual campaign.

However, Liverpool have ‘no intention’ of selling Nunez this month as the Reds compete on multiple fronts. The Merseysiders view the Uruguay international as ‘an important part’ of their squad across the second half of the season.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool expect there to be ‘a significant market for Nunez’ in the summer window, if the club decide to cash in on the 25-year-old. Nunez signed for Liverpool from Benfica for an initial fee of £64m in 2022 and has scored 39 times in 125 appearances across all competitions.

Al Nassr have turned the attention to deals for Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface and Aston Villa frontman Jhon Duran. The Saudi side are seeking a replacement for Anderson Talisca, who has beeb allowed to join Fenerbahce this month.

After progressive talks regarding Boniface, a decision will be made on whether to pursue the Nigerian or Duran before the deadline. Aston Villa are reportedly prepared to entertain offers in the region of £80m for Duran. The transfer deadline for clubs in Saudi Arabia is January 30.
