Postecoglou: Every time I see light at the end of the tunnel it’s an oncoming train

Ange Postecoglou says that “every time I’ve seen the light at the end of the tunnel” with regards to Spurs’ injuries, “it’s usually been an oncoming train”.

The Tottenham manager has had to deal with a plethora on injury and fitness problems in his squad this season, but is hopeful their woes are on the turnaround.

The north London outfit travel to Brentford on Sunday looking to snap a seven-game winless streak. They’ve gained just one point in that run, leaving them 15th in the Premier League table.

Postecoglou sums up Spurs injuries: ‘It’s an oncoming train’

“I hope so mate,” Postecoglou said in his pre-match press conference when asked if there was an end in sight to their injury situation. “But every time I’ve seen the light at the end of the tunnel it’s usually been an oncoming train. We seem to be losing players as we get them back.”

Spurs were without 12 players due to injury or ineligibility for their Europa League win over Elfsborg on Thursday, during which Radu Dragusin went down with an injury. But Micky van de Ven did return from a hamstring injury

“We’ve had to deal with a real extreme situation, which unfortunately once we got hit with what we got hit with, it is then very hard to rectify on the run,” Postecoglou said.

“We obviously got some significant injuries early on, which hampered our progress, and then we had to rely on a small group of players to get us through and that then burdened them.
