Man City, Arsenal and Spurs among eight sides vying for goal machine Vlahovic

Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham are among eight sides competing for the signature of Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic.

Europe’s leading clubs are interested in signing Vlahovic following his stunning form for Fiorentina, with the Serbia international having enjoyed a sensational 2021 to score 33 league goals for the Italian side.

That haul has seen the 21-year-old level Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for most Serie A goals in a calendar year and a host of Premier League sides are among those monitoring his situation ahead of a potential move.

The Times are reporting that Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham are among his suitors, with Fiorentina hopeful of sparking a bidding war for a player who has just 18 months remaining on his current contract, with little optimism over an extension.

Manchester City are interested in signing a forward after failing to secure a deal for Harry Kane last summer, whilst both Arsenal and Spurs are also targeting attacking reinforcements with the latter set to look towards Italy following the appointments of Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte.

Juventus, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing Vlahovic, who became the first Fiorentina player since Gabriel Batistuta to score 20+ league goals during the 2020/21 campaign.

Fiorentina are understood to have rejected an offer from Atletico Madrid during the summer and will demand a fee in the region of £77m for a player who has been outscored by only Robert Lewandowski across Europe’s top five leagues in 2021.

His 33 league goals this calendar year are more than the likes of Erling Haaland (30), Karim Benzema (28) and Mohamed Salah (24).

Vlahovic stands at an imposing 6ft 3in and is left-footed, and has also began prolifically at international level with seven goals in just 14 appearances for the Serbia national side.

He arrived at Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade for a fee of just £1.7m in 2018, having become the latter’s youngest ever player and goalscorer aged just 16.
